Evaluation and Repair Tools

Overview

The best way to evaluate websites is to test using a variety of tools. Recognizing the dynamic nature of the web, there are many tools available that allow the developer to test in a variety of formats.
  • Keyboard access - can someone navigate a website without a mouse?
  • Different Browsers - web browsers can display web pages differently.
  • User control over presentation - can a user change a website presentation, font style and sizes, background text and link colors.
  • Validation of HTML Code and/or style sheets.

Web accessibility evaluation tools can help you quickly identify potential accessibility issues.  Tools can provide fully-automated checks, and help you with manual review.

Human judgment is required. Sometimes evaluation tools can produce false or misleading results. Web accessibility evaluation tools cannot determine accessibility, they can only assist in doing so.
